Biking around the Italian Riviera

 

Day 1

Once arrived to the airport we have a short meeting with our tour leader review of our touring map . Our road starts taking us over the stunning undiscovered roads with views of green mountain slops giving way to the the azure seas below. We will stop to Enjoy a little bit of peaceful atmosphere in this seaside village before we arrive to the hotel next to Portofino.

Day 2

Our day will starts with transferring to the Gulf of Tigullio with its famous glamorous village of Rapallo. We have some time for a short visit of the old center of the town and then it is off on a ride through the hills that once hosted the marble Michelangelo used to sculpture his David statue.  This area with its quiet roads shaded by chestnut trees is reflects the unique harmony that exists between Man and Nature. On the way back, we can visit also another seaside town of Santa Margherita.

Day 3

After the check-out from the hotel we will take a boat and ride to the east of promontory – Chiavari. We’ll climb into the coastal hills, riding through the peaceful country roads immersed olive gardens and mist we follow to the “Bay of Fairy Tales” of named to honor Hans Christian Andersen, who lived in Sestri for a short time. This bay is one of the part of Sestri Levante Peninsula, here we will have a stop for a lunch. After the lunch following the costal trail to the forgotten by time nestling in a secret valley –Moneglia.

Overnight and dinner in the hotel just outside of Moneglia.

Day 4

Our next path is the way to Passo Dell Branco with its shadeless and sweet views. From there with windy descent we finish into Levanto, just to the north of the Cinque Terre. The route offers stunning views of the Mediterranean that give way to tall stands of coastal pines. For the lunch lets stop to taste a typical Ligurian delicious in one of the local restaurant of Levanto. After the lunch let’s get back on our bikes and ride through Bonassola and continue through the tunnels, until you get to a beautiful trail reserved for cyclists and pedestrians -Framura. The final climb to Deiva Marina and final return to the hotel in Moneglia.

Day 5

We check out from the hotel and begin our next path along one of the most panoramic and quiet roads in Italy, making our way to Cinque Terre. The five fishing villages, with their dramatic cliffs, past vineyards and centuries old villages with the sea under your feet. Our route will takes us above each town before descending into Riomaggiore, this multi colorfull city where we will stop for the lunch. From Riomaggiore we ride over to our hotel next to La Spezia. In have time to path through the village of Campiglia and reach “The hamlet of Portovenere – “harbour of Venus” . Return to the hotel for overnight.

Distance: 40 miles / 67 km

Day 6

This morning we start very interesting and important ride Grand Fondo route of Cinque Terre.Which offers some great scenery as it winds and undulates its way along this stunning coastline.  Our ride finished in  La Spezia where we have time to walk and rest before the farewell diner in the local restaurant overlooking the sea.

Distance 45 miles/ 70 km

Day 7

Check out from the hotel and transfer to the airport.
