Gran Tour Sardinia

Day 1: Arrival in Cagliari Airport and transfer to Cagliari.

Guests arrive at Cagliari International Airport and meet the local tour guide. Transfer by private bus to accommodation in Cagliari region, dinner and overnight in hotel 4*

According to time availability, a sightseeing tour of Cagliari including the Poetto Beach and the Monte Urpinu panoramic hill.

Day 2: Nora, the beaches of Chia, the centre of Cagliari

Morning :We depart on the coastal road to Pula, surrounded by the Ponds of Cagliari where pink flamingoes live. We reach Nora, beautiful ancient town on the sea. Founded by Phoenicians, Nora is considered the most ancient town on the island, and it is very nice to admire the mosaics, the thermae and the ancient theatre. A stele from Nora is considered the most ancient written document of western Europe. We drive on the panoramic road to Chia, where we admire the most stunning white sand beaches of the whole Sardinia. In this region there are many beautiful hotels and resort, including the Best resort in the World, where Mr Gordon Ramsay runs his restaurant!

Afternoon: After free time for lunch in Pula, we return to Cagliari and dedicate the afternoon to discover the Capital of Sardinia, with the fortified quarter of the Castle: Walls, towers, and the Cathedral are beautifully preserved! The town of Cagliari was defined by the Spanish ,Emperor ‘The Key of the Mediterranean Sea’ because of its position an the perfection of its fortifications. Free time for shopping and a proper Gelato in the beautiful, central Piazza Yenne!

Transfer back to accommodation, dinner and overnight.

Day 3: The Argiolas winery, lunch with the shepherds, the Nuraghe of Barumini

After Check-out from Accommodation we visit the Argiolas winery, near Cagliari, the most famous of Sardinia: designed by the Architect Couelle, creator of the Villas and the hotels of the Costa Smeralda, Argiolas is considered one of the most important wineries in Italy: it was awarded the Gold Medal at the Vinitaly, and their wines are exposed at Eataly in New York, on the 5th Avenue. Naturally a tasting follows the visit! Lunch We are going to have a gourmet experience for lunch: we drive to the tiny village of Siddi, where Mr Roberto Petza runs his restaurant in historical house. He is the most famous chef in Sardinia, and made a great experience in the USA in prestigious Michelin starS restaurants before return to his home island! Afternoon We arrive in the little village of Barumini, and visit the local Nuraghe. Protected by UNESCO, the Nuraghe of Barumini is the most important archaeological site of Sardinia. It is a nice adventure to walk through the II Millennium bC houses, then reach the heart of the fortress with its central tower surrounded by a fortified court and four side towers! After the visit we follow to Oristano region for check-in, dinner and overnight at the accommodation.

Day 4: Oliena, Orgosolo, lunch with the shepherds

After check out from accommodation we reach the heart of Sardinia, the Barbagia region. We reach Oliena, beautiful village at the foot of the Corrasi Mountain, and enjoy a tasting of the local Prosciutto and the local Nepente wine: these excellent products come from a very little family–run company.. A taste of Authentic Sardinia!

Lunch We reach Orgosolo, the most famous village of Central Sardinia. In these mountains John Huston played a scene of ‘The Bible’ in 1966! We enjoy an extraordinary experience, the lunch with the shepherds. It’s a meat based meal, accompanied by delicious local pecorino cheese, traditional bread and the strong Cannonau Wine.

Afternoon We walk through the centre of Orgosolo and admire the beautiful murales, depicting the social history of central Sardinia in the XX Century. Finally, we drive to Olbia, in Northern Sardinia, for check-in at the accommodation, dinner and overnight.

Day 5: La Maddalena, Caprera and the Emerald Coast

We depart for Palau and board on the ferry boat to La Maddalena, the island heart of the National Park. We enjoy a tour of the island with its wonderful and unspoilt beaches and the panoramas on the sea facing French Corsica. US Navy had an important base in La Maddalena for 50 years!

After free time for lunch in la Maddalena, we visit of the island of Caprera, the last retreat of Giuseppe Garibaldi, father of the Italian independence, then is will be time for us to return to Sardinia mainland. We discover the Emerald Coast with Porto Cervo, summer capital of luxury and International Jet Set! There will be time for us to walk in the Porto Cervo Marina, with its villas and hotels, beautiful masterpieces of modern Architecture. Even James Bond participated to his actions in this corner of Luxurious paradise!

Transfer back to accommodation, dinner and overnight

Day 6 : the Surrau Winery, Castelsardo

After check-out from accommodation we visit the Surrau winery in Arzachena: this luxurious winery produces excellent

delicious wines, specially the unique Vermentino, white wine with the strenght of this island. After the visit and wine tasting,we drive through the heart of the Gallura, region, until we reach the northern coast of the Island and the town of Castelsardo.

After lunch we visit the historical centre of Castelsardo, located on the top of a magnificent promontory, still beautifully

preserved. Medieval Churches, fortifications and narrow roads in local stone boast a stunning view on the sea.

After the visit to Castelsardo we drive west, until we reach Alghero for check-in, dinner and overnight at accommodation.

Day 7: Alghero and Bosa

We discover the historical centre of Alghero: this tiny town is located straight on the sea and boasts a romantic walk through the ramparts, towers and nice churches. In Alghero people still speak a Catalan dialect and keeps alive tradition of coral working. After the visit we drive on the coastal road to Bosa, with its stunning landscape and panoramas.

Visit to Bosa, tiny town on the mouth of the Temo bridge. The town has a nice historical centre: here we will also have a tasting of the local Malvasia: in the year 2011 this incredibile dessert wine was the only one to be awarded the score of 20/20 on the guide of Italians wine! After the visit we drive back to Alghero for Farewell Dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Farewell Sardinia

After check-out from accommodation we have some free time for shopping and for enjoying the romantic mediterranean atmosphere of Alghero, before transfer to the Airport. End of our services.
